Julian’s recent collages investigate money and power through parody. Although tedious, the work is composed through experimentation and play. Each piece takes great risk.
Where the Eagle Flies, depicts a bald eagle nest at sunset in subtle reference to the cold war and war or terror. The Blue Room (White House), depicts the parlor room in the White House as if for sale. Whereas, Funny Money, a larger painted acrylic canvas, is more directly influenced by Picasso and the idea of play, utilizing linear space and collage elements as one.
His work is influenced by American Painters such as Ralph Blakelock, and George Inness, as well as living contemporary Artists such as Mark Wagner.
