Carolyn Sittler

One could say I have a split personality. Being a retired tax accountant I volunteer with AARP preparing tax returns by day. However by night I follow my passion expressing myself through my artwork.  My art training started by attending weekly paint sessions with a group of watercolor artists. I now find YouTube very helpful In learning how to master new and old mediums.
I spent many years rug hooking, fusing glass and painting with watercolors. I was experimenting with oils and pastels when I started felting. I just love the textured affect of felting and how the color of the wool fibers blend. To me felting is like combining what I love about rug hooking and painting with watercolors.
Inspiration has been found while backpacking and bicycling the United States and Canada. The self contained bicycle trip from Glacier National Park to Denali National Park proved to be the most inspirational of my many adventures. The trip gave me the unique oppertunity to view nature on the most primitive level. It also allowed me to view the art of the local residents and to understand how environment can affect the choice of subject and medium. It has become important to share these experiences through art.
