Vera Collier

I took a decorative painting class in 1988 and was instantly hooked on this art form.  I enjoy painting a variety of subjects.  Decorative painting is done on a variety of surfaces, wood, paper mache, furniture, fabric; pretty much anything that will stand still.  I have even painted on old bowling pins.  After taking many classes, I entered a hand painted ornament  I had designed in a contest put on by Decorative Woodcrafts magazine.  My little snowy church scene won 2nd place in the religious category and was subsequently published in their August 1996 issue.  This led me to doing more design work and I have been fortunate to have my projects published in several national craft and painting magazines, including Crafts and Things, Quick and Easy Painting, Painting magazine and Paint World.  I’ve also had designs in an on line magazine called Pixelated Palette. Although I have retired from doing the magazine articles,  I still do a lot of painting for family and friends and the occasional commission work.  You may contact me by email at veracollier@yahoo.com
